Newport Pagnell Horticultural Show celebrates its 208th year in September

Posted 27th April 2017

The NEWPORT PAGNELL HORTICULTURAL SHOW celebrates its 208th  year on Saturday 2nd  September 2017.  We have been growing and showing since 1809. Yet even now the show continues to grow, year after year.

We don’t charge an entry fee to enter the various classes.  Instead we ask for donations from entrants on the day of the show.  Now is the time to start growing if you are entering the sections for flowers, pot plants, fruit or vegetables. But there is so much more to the show, from cakes and preserves to photographs and art work.  This year we have split up the art categories as follows:  original oil or acrylic paintings, original water colours, and original drawings.

Entry forms can be obtained from the Offices of the Newport Pagnell Town Council at 80 High Street, Newport Pagnell or email towncouncilinfo@newport-pagnell.org.uk. Even if you aren’t submitting an entry, come and join us to marvel at the spectacularly-sized vegetables, laugh at the children’s funniest veggies, admire the skills of the artists and craftspeople, and grab a bargain in the end of show auction, where you can take home the most scrumptious items at ridiculous prices.   The show opens its doors to the public at 2 pm in the United Reformed Church Hall.

This year in addition to the trophies awarded at the Horticultural show for the best floral display by a pub in Newport Pagnell and the best front garden display there is a new category – the best small front garden.  So even if you only have a front door with some stunning hanging baskets you will be considered.  No entry forms are required for these three show categories. We’ll be watching in June and July.
