Mark Lancaster MP for Milton Keynes North and Iain Stewart, MP for Milton Keynes South support Europcar UK’s launch at Milton Keynes Central Station with low cost electric vehicle hire for the local community.

Europcar UK, a subsidiary of Europcar Group, the European leader in vehicle rental service and a major player in mobility markets, is demonstrating its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions with the opening of a new branch at Milton Keynes Central railway station.  Making all forms of vehicle rental – from hybrid and electric vehicles to hourly hire and long term rental – available from the heart of the railway station, the new location sets the benchmark for connected mobility.

Marking the launch, Europcar UK is offering Milton Keynes residents and businesses the opportunity to rent its range of electric vehicles at discounted rates for the month of March.

Gary Smith, Managing Director, Europcar UK Group welcomed local MPs, Mark Lancaster MP and Iain Stewart MP to the new branch.

“Milton Keynes has an international reputation for adopting sustainable green technologies and recently secured the award of Go Ultra Low City status”, he said.  “We believe it is, therefore, the right location in which to open our newest branch, which demonstrates our commitment to creating sustainable mobility solutions and integrating car rental into the public transport infrastructure.

Mark Lancaster MP commented, “Milton Keynes was built 50 years ago, with the car as the principle mode of transport in mind, therefore, when it comes to innovation projects, particularly in the field of transport, Milton Keynes is clearly leading the way.  Europcar have recognised that this is the place to be and we welcome them in joining the diverse businesses, both national and international who have made their home here.

Iain Stewart MP added, “I am delighted that travellers now have another option to choose from when they arrive at Central Milton Keynes station, Europcar’s commitment to make electric and ultra-low emission vehicles available, thereby exposing more people to these types of vehicle, is highly commendable.”

The new Milton Keynes location is a showcase for Europcar’s latest mobility technologies including hourly car hire and chauffeur drive as well as electric and hydrogen vehicles.  Europcar UK recently added the Toyota Mirai, hydrogen powered car to its fleet and the company committed in 2015 to moving its fleet to 5% electric vehicles (EV) by 2020.

“This branch is part of Europcar’s vision for connected transport across the UK” continued Gary Smith.  “We are proud to be the first vehicle hire company at Milton Keynes Central railway station, putting us at the heart of the community.  And the development of our zero emissions fleet means customers can reduce their carbon footprint too.”
