A new approach to bathrooms

Anyone who has driven by a piled-high skip will know just how much is simply thrown away when renovating a home. It does not need to be that way. Paul Rising, who set up Olney Bathrooms ten years ago, has taken a fresh look at the way he and his team work. He realised clients can still have their dream bathroom but through the use of sustainable products the completed space will have a lot less impact on the environment. ‘It’s not just the items, it’s about interacting with the people…’

As the Milton Keynes Museum continues to mark its half-century, Pulse's Sammy Jones takes another look back at how the history hub has evolved, by speaking with two of those volunteers whose input has been invaluable. “I remember my first job at the Museum, which would probably put anyone off for life,” Neil Loudon says, laughing at the memory, “It was in the print shop, cleaning all the parkay tiles and then laying them!” That was in 1980, and he has been a valued volunteer ever since. “I started off fairly unskilled. Volunteering for Animals in Need

With charities having to work harder than ever to bring in the cash, they are resorting to more extreme ways of raising it. Swimming with sharks? It's not for everyone, but AIN's Annie Marriott loved it, as she told Pulse's Sammy Jones... The vast majority of us will have given to charity at some point; popped a few pennies or pounds in the collection box rattled under our noses, or donated online in memory of a loved one's preferred cause. But with the cost of living crisis, people's disposable income has disappeared. We've written about it before; charities who rely..
