Cyclists invited to gear up for Willen Hospice Cycle Europe Virtual Challenge powered by energie Fitness MK

Posted 23rd June 2020

It’s the final week for cyclists to sign up for the Cycle Europe Virtual Challenge.

Starting this Friday (26 June) and finishing on Sunday (28 June), cyclists taking part in the challenge will be going ‘through’ 13 countries, working together to complete 11,300km or more. The challenge is open to everyone, from pros to families, outdoors or indoors, 15km, 50km, or more!

The virtual adventure will be hosted on Zoom, with the help of the team at energie Fitness MK. The team have some fun ideas to bring Europe to Milton Keynes, and they’re also encouraging the cyclists to embrace the European vibe, and take to the roads or redways in fancy dress!

Tracey Jago, Events Manager, said “This is a really difficult time for the Hospice. We are predicting an income loss of up to £2.5M, while our nursing team are working harder than ever, with their caseload now including patients with COVID-19. By taking part in the Cycle Europe Virtual Challenge, and getting as much sponsorship as possible, we’ll be able to continue providing specialist care to our patients. We simply can’t do it without support from our community.”

To take part, just visit the Willen Hospice website www.willen-hospice.org.uk/cycleeurope, and fill in the registration form. Participants choose their starting time, and enter the distance they hope to complete. Once registered, there will be instructions on how to connect Strava to their Fundraising Page. The kilometres recorded will be plotted on a map of Europe over the three-day event for everyone to see.

Entry costs £15 per adult, £8 per child, and there’s also an additional option for groups/clubs to enter so they can cycle at the same time.
