MKCCM and McDonalds fight for a cleaner city with second ‘Love Where you Live’ event for 2017

Posted 17th May 2017

After a great start to the season, the Love Where You Live team are planning the next clean up event of 2017 on Thursday 25 May from 12-2pm.  MKCCM and McDonalds, the teams behind the initiative, have planned a series of events throughout the year, which will allow local employees and residents the chance to give back to the community on their lunch breaks.

A group of Central Milton Keynes staff and residents will gather at the centre:mk branch of McDonalds at 12pm on Thursday 20 April.  A quick briefing will be given, before the hardy team of volunteers head out to make their mark in the fight against litter issues in the area.  For this event, the group will focus on Midsummer Boulevard West, with a mixture of litter picking, hedge pruning and jet washing, thanks to MKCCM’s newest member business Concept Clean.

Rob Harriman, MKCCM’s Street Warden, commented: “Every time we plan a Love Where You Live event we are absolutely staggered by the turnout.  It’s amazing to think that during 2017 we will see around 200 individuals join us at one of the events taking place.  It’s a great marker of the community spirit in Central Milton Keynes!”

Ken Tomkins, franchise holder of five McDonalds restaurants in Milton Keynes, added: “We’re really looking forward to the second event of the year, with the addition of some jetwashing around the city which is a first for Love Where You Live, thanks to Concept Clean.

“We often meet people who want to volunteer in the community, but don’t know where to start.  Here the organisation is already taken care of, leaving you to have a rewarding and enjoyable lunch break!”
