MP Represents Government at Anglo-Nepal Celebrations

Mark Lancaster MP for Milton Keynes North and former Gurkha officer represented the UK government this week at the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the UK held at the Nepalese Embassy in London.

Along with Prince Harry, who was representing Her Majesty the Queen, the event celebrated one of the longest continuous alliances the UK has ever had.  One of the most enduring features has been that for over 200 years Nepalese citizens have served in the British Army in the famous Brigade of Gurkhas and both Prince Harry and other guests witnessed the famous ‘Kukri Dance’ performed by soldiers of the Brigade.

Mark Lancaster, a former Officer in the Brigade of Gurkhas himself said, “It was a real honour to be invited today to celebrate this remarkable event celebrating our enduring relationship. I have the most fantastic memories of my time in the Gurkhas and serving with some of the fiercest but also kindest soldiers in the world.”
