Northamptonshire Developer Raises More Than £10,000 For Alzheimer’s Society

Quality housebuilder Grace Homes has been fundraising the Alzheimer’s Society for over two years, holding events such as bake sales, a step challenge and a jailbreak where the Directors were locked in their offices with only a phone and tasked with raising funds to secure their release. The Team from Grace Homes with the cheque

Despite the added challenges brought about by COVID, the local housebuilder more than doubled its original pledge, raising £10,345 in total for its chosen charity.

Alzheimer’s Society supports 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK – including more than 9,700 people estimated to be living with the condition in Northamptonshire – through some of the hardest and most frightening times, to improve their lives and help to avoid crisis.

The charity’s Dementia Connect support line (0333 150 3456), for anyone affected by dementia, puts people in touch with expert dementia advisers, who can offer both pre and post diagnostic support, provide local face-to-face help, phone and online information.

Managing Director, Henry Barney, explained why Grace Homes chose this particular cause:

“Like many people, my family has been affected by dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society is the only dementia charity in the UK that campaigns for change; funds research to find a cure; and supports people living with this disease day to day. With so many families affected by dementia, it was an obvious cause for us to support, and I am proud of our team for raising these much-needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.”

Alice Grewcock, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Northamptonshire, said: “We are really grateful to staff at Grace Homes for their continuous support and dedication, challenging themselves in various ways to raise vital funds and awareness of dementia.

“Too many face dementia alone. Together, we will make sure people living with the condition and their carers, live more fulfilled and less fearful lives, free from stigma and inequality.

“Alzheimer’s Society relies on the generosity of its supporters, like Grace Homes, to help continue its vital work, providing help and hope. Right now, we are calling on people to take an important step and sign up to one of our Memory Walks, including the one at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes, this Autumn.
