Panto is back at Castle Theatre in Wellingborough… Oh yes it is!

Castle Theatre in Wellingborough is thrilled to welcome visitors back to its theatre for the first time in 2 years.

Due to Covid restrictions, pantos have been put on hold which has meant that no Christmas panto could go ahead in 2019 or 2020. Fast forward to 2021 and the team at Castle Theatre are all raring to go to celebrate the reopening of the Christmas panto Sleeping Beauty.

Martin Cleverley, the Castle Theatre’s general manager said: “It’s great to be back! Me and the cast are so excited to be able to do what we love.

“Ticket sales are already ahead compared to previous years, and we already have 24 schools booked to come and see the panto – which is incredible!

“We plan to put on a high-quality production using a high-quality cast and we know that spectators are going to love it.”

You can expect panto’ hilarity, songs, dances and even a fiery dragon when you go and watch this fun-filled family pantomime.

This year’s panto is based on the popular Sleeping Beauty… cursed by the jealous Wicked Queen (Ria Turner) on her 16th birthday, the beautiful Princess (Alice Ellen Wright) falls into a deep sleep that can only be ended with a kiss from her betrothed.

Prince Charming (Mark Lamb), our hero, needs all the help he can get from the good fairies (Sarah Hooper) to help him escape the Queen’s evil clutches, wake the Princess and live happily ever after. Will true love win the day? You’ll have go and watch the panto for yourself to find out if there’s a happy ending!

When asked how they’re feeling about returning to the stage after a break, the cast all shared their excitement and happiness that they are finally able to return to something they love.

Next year the castle team will be looking for more local actors. Will Fazer who will be playing Jingles, is a local actor and some of his first memories of theatre was coming to Castle Theatre on school trips and performing on their stage was always his dream.

Castle Theatre also have you covered if you’re a food lover… they’ve launched a new partnership with Puds ‘n’ Guds who will be providing delicious snacks, sandwiches and sweet treats.

Produced and directed in-house at Castle Theatre, Sleeping Beauty stars eight talented actors and a team of professional dancers. Following the success of Aladdin in 2019, this production promises to be a festive treat for the whole family! you won’t want to miss Sleeping Beauty which runs from Sat 4 Dec 2021 – Sun 2 Jan 2022.
