The Parks Trust acquires Campbell Wharf Marina

Posted 1st May 2019

Campbell Wharf Marina, at Crest Nicholson’s Campbell Wharf development, has been acquired by The Parks Trust who will manage future operations at the Marina.

The new 111 berth Marina will provide a destination for boaters and canal users in Milton Keynes, with direct access to the Grand Union Canal and additional services to be provided nearby as part of the wider Campbell Wharf development.

The Marina will open next week, on 6th May 2019, and boat owners can reserve their berths now via the Campbell Wharf Marina website – already around 40 berths have been reserved.

The Parks Trust was created in 1992 to care for parkland and green space in Milton Keynes. This independent charity is responsible for over 6,000 acres of river valleys, woodlands, lakesides, parks and landscaped areas in Milton Keynes.

The wider Campbell Wharf development is being progressed by Crest Nicholson with Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) includes 383 new homes, a canal-side pub, café, restaurant and a landmark new footbridge linking the two sides of the Grand Union Canal.

Peter Cusdin, Development Director at Crest Nicholson said:
“We are delighted to have completed the sale of this state of the art Marina to the Parks Trust. The new facility will provide a new hub for water-goers alongside the other fantastic amenities Campbell Wharf will bring to Milton Keynes.”

David Foster, Chief Executive of The Parks Trust said:
“Campbell Wharf Marina is an exciting new addition to our commercial property portfolio and we are proud to be associated with the scheme. The Parks Trust is a self-financing, charity and the income from our commercial property and other investments allow us to run and sustain the charity to fulfil our purpose of maintaining the beautiful parks, lakes and landscapes of Milton Keynes; making sure that they are there for future generations to enjoy long in to the future.
As well as being an important commercial investment for The Trust, this is also a fantastic amenity for Milton Keynes and one that will contribute to the fabric of the city. The Marina is in a great location – a short walk through the linked network of parks and green spaces in this part of town can take in the tree cathedral, Campbell Park, the city centre including the new gallery, Willen Lake, the Ouzel Valley and Woolstone village.
We are delighted to announce that experienced operator, Land & Water Estates Ltd will be running the 111-berth marina for us.”

Charles Macdonald, Chief Executive of MKDP said:
“Campbell Wharf is the first step in the creation of a sustainable mixed-use community around the park and it is fantastic that The Parks Trust is wholeheartedly supporting this initiative which will be a focal point for Campbell Park.”
