Posted 5th May 2019

MK Playday have been successfully shortlisted in applying for the Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme. The MK Playday project will be put forward to a customer vote in Tesco stores during May and June 2019.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awarded to local community projects. Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

MK Playday is one of the shortlisted groups looking to secure a funding boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative. MK Playday provides free, fun, accessible activities for all children, young people and their families from across Milton Keynes in Campbell Park on Wednesday 7 August 2019.

Voting is open in all Tesco stores on Wednesday 1 May to Sunday 30 June 2019. Customers will cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out store each time they shop.

Julie Dawes, interim Chair of MK Playday organising committee commented: “We are so pleased to be shortlisted for the Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme. This grant would aid MK Playday to offer a wider range of free and fun activities and games for the local children of Milton Keynes as part of the national day for play. MK Playday is the largest free play event held in Milton Keynes and we can’t wait to make this event bigger and better to highlight the importance of play in children’s lives”.
