What is Towersey Festival?

More than a music festival, Towersey is a holiday for all ages! A chance to really leave the world behind and reconnect over our 4 days of music, dance, entertainment, workshops and experiences you won’t find anywhere else.

The perfect festival for seasoned festival goers and first timers alike! The festival for all ages where you can reconnect with friends old and new, reconnect with music, dance, art, and culture that we know you’ll love, reconnect with the countryside in the stunning grounds of Claydon Estate. And reconnect with yourself, as you escape everyday life at a festival that’s little enough to feel a big part of.

Towersey Festival may be the oldest independent festival in the UK but we continue to reinvent the festival to make it even more accessible, diverse and friendly as possible.

MORE THAN JUST AN EVENT

The current Festival team are the grandchildren of the festival’s founder so it goes without saying that we care. We care that we put on a great show, we care that our customers and volunteers have a memorable (maybe even life changing) experience, we care about nurturing talent and encouraging discovery of new music and new skills. We often come back to the question ‘Why do we need Towersey Festival?’ and, after much head scratching and lively discussion, we eventually came up with our vision:

“To deliver creative and cultural experiences that inspire people and help create a more enriched and connected community.”

We get excited by that, and hope you do too.

OUR HISTORY – IT’S WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE

Joe, Kath and Mary are the current team who work on the festival all year round. Supported in unimaginable measures by many friends, family and other experts. They also happen to be three of the grandchildren of a festival founder, Denis Manners MBE and three of the children of Steve Heap, who took over from Denis in 1973.

Towersey remains true to the inherent values set out by its founders and passionate to maintain our support of cultural experiences and discoveries for all ages.

  • We are the oldest independent festival in the UK, with a focus on non-mainstream music, arts & culture and a broad programming ethos
  • We have a strong sense of family and audience ownership with 3 generations of families attending together
  • Supporting a cultural and creative community, not just artists but through a well-established engagement programme of activity for participants
  • A belief in supporting our audiences on a journey of lifelong discovery, expanding & diversifying their cultural landscape
  • Family run, truly independent and hugely passionate about what is in our care
