Willen Hospice celebrates opening of new shop in Woburn Sands

Willen Hospice is delighted to announce the opening of its brand new shop on Station Road in Woburn Sands.

The shop stocks new and pre-loved men’s and women’s clothing, including brand names; new decorative garden and homeware, books, shoes and jewellery. As a specialist offering, the shop will also stock music LPs on vinyl alongside their vintage and locally upcycled guitars.

Work is also underway to bring a coffee shop and garden to the store in the coming weeks. This will provide a social space for local people to meet over a cuppa and piece of cake.

The opening brings the total number of Hospice shops to 11 in Milton Keynes and surrounding towns. Mark Rawlins,Willen Hospice Associate Director of Commercial said “We are exceptionally proud of our achievement in opening this shop despite the Covid-19 disruptions. Our boutique-style shop in Woburn Sands gives customers a great selection of pre-loved items to buy, and a chance to donate any similar good quality clothing they no longer need. It could be just the item someone else is looking for and this makes our shop sustainable in the longer term.”

Willen Hospice has touched the lives of many people from the community, caring for patients and their families free of charge when they’ve faced life limiting illness. By supporting the new shop, the Woburn Sands community will in turn, be helping their local charity to fund the care of many more patients.

The shop is managed by a steering committee made up of professional people from the local area. They have offered the specialist skills gained throughout their careers, to support the new shop, its staff and volunteers.

Sheila Nanon, one of the members of the Steering Committee, said “Willen Hospice shops are not only an important source of income for the charity, they also bring jobs to the local area and opportunities for people to volunteer and gain valuable retail experience. The new shop is located at 62 Station Road, Woburn Sands, MK17 8RZ.
