Christmas Kicks Off in Milton Keynes City Centre on Saturday 22 November

Posted 15th October 2025

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… and Milton Keynes is about to sparkle! On Saturday 22 November, the city centre will come alive for its much-loved annual Christmas lights switch-on — a festive afternoon bursting with live music, laughter, and a big dose of community spirit.

This free, family-friendly celebration will take place in The Point car park, where local performers will take to the stage before the skies light up with a dazzling fireworks finale.

Milton Keynes Rock Choir
Milton Keynes Rock Choir will bring festive cheer to the stage with their high-energy performance at the city’s Christmas lights switch-on.

The fun begins at 4pm, with a heartwarming performance from the children of Christ the Sower Primary School. They’ll be followed by the ever-energetic Milton Keynes Rock Choir, led by pianist and singer Rob Baker — a familiar face in the city’s music scene. With over a decade of performances under their belt, the choir has become a true MK staple, bringing joy (and plenty of singalong moments) to local festivals and events.

Adding some smooth festive flair to the line-up, local jazz and swing singer Ollie Corbett will step up to the mic. Known internationally for his performances with swing-pop group Jack Pack, he’s guaranteed to bring that old-school charm to the night.

Back by popular demand, comedian and internationally recognised magician David Allen returns as host, keeping the laughs (and magic) flowing throughout the evening. And of course, no Christmas lights event would be complete without a certain jolly VIP — Father Christmas himself will be there to push the big red button, lighting up Midsummer Boulevard, Midsummer Place Shopping Centre, 12th Street, and the brand-new Christmas tree outside Milton Keynes Theatre and MK Gallery.

If you fancy getting into the spirit early, fairground rides and cheeky comedy elves will be entertaining from 2pm, setting the festive tone before the main show.

The evening will wrap up at around 5:15pm with a spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the sky above central MK — the perfect way to kick off the most magical time of the year.

Because nothing says “it’s Christmas in Milton Keynes” quite like that first burst of fireworks.
