Get Mini-Moo-ving at Willen Hospice family event
Posted 16th June 2021Fundraisers at Willen Hospice are excited for the return of their popular Mini-Moo on Sunday 11 July, after having to cancel last year’s event.
The event invites children to scoot, run or walk one or two sponsored laps of Willen Lake North. They can even do their own mini-triathlon! Every child who takes part gets a medal and certificate, and there will be extra surprises on the day, including Willen Hospice’s very own mascot, Florence the Cow.
Katrina Walsh, Willen Hospice Events Fundraiser, said: “We really missed not having our popular Mini-Moo event last year, and we know lots of families were just as disappointed as us.
“We have worked hard to make sure this year’s event can go ahead, and we hope lots of Mini-Mooers will be able to join us, and fundraise for their local Hospice. It’s going to be a great day, and we can’t wait to see all the children having fun for a good cause.”
COVID-19 regulations will be in place during the event. To avoid crowding, there will be wave start times, and places must be pre-booked online before the event. Families also have the option to take part virtually and complete their own Mini-Moo at a place and time that suits them.
It costs just £7.50 to enter but organisers are encouraging young fundraisers to go the extra mile by raising as much money as they can through sponsorship. To say ‘thank you’, the five highest fundraisers will receive a special prize!
Willen Hospice needs to raise £4.7million a year, that’s £9 a minute, and COVID-19 has left a huge shortfall in their fundraising income. Events like the Mini-Moo are a great way for younger members of the community to help support the Hospice through this challenging time.
