Go around the world in a day at World Picnic!
Posted 21st June 2021In collaboration with the Milton Keynes International Festival 2021, The Parks Trust are again hosting their event World Picnic on Sunday 25 July 2021.
This event celebrates music, dance, cultures and food of the world. This fantastic family day out will help you learn all about the cultures in Milton Keynes which help to make the city so vibrant. You can watch music and dances acts as they take the stage and try new and exciting foods from host of local vendors.
In 2021, The Parks Trust are welcoming live performances from The Swanvesta Social Club who blend anglo-latin percussion and melodic patterns to create a unique party sound. Performing a mix of Cuban folk songs and classic pop, their highly entertaining, funny and rocky performance will certainly put you in the party spirit.
Male voice group The Sloop Groggy Dogs will also be joining the event. They will be singing evocative traditional songs of the sea, laced with adventure, peril and regret. And of course, lively shanties, that will have you singing along in know time!
And finally, they will also be welcoming The Oompah Stompers to the stage, who are some of the best brass, wind and percussion players in the UK. Performing over 200 shows a year, you are always guaranteed a great performance from this big band!
Once you have worked up an appetite you can also visit the food stalls whose cuisine spans the globe! At World Picnic this year you’ll be able to sample the delights from;
Giuseppe’s Pizzeria & Deserts, who will be bringing their artisan Neapolitan Pizzeria van. All their pizzas are made with their signature sourdough for a fantastic flavour and topped with the finest ingredients imported from Italy before being fired in their wood oven.
Howe & Co Fish & Chips will also joining The Parks Trust at World Picnic, bringing with them their traditional fish and chips, pies and don’t forget the mushy peas. Howe & Co have been serving up some of the finest fish and chips since 1930.
ScanDelicious will be bringing a taste of Scandinavia to Campbell Park. You don’t need to be exploring the streets of Stockholm or wandering around Copenhagen’s waterfront to enjoy truly authentic Scandinavian dishes. Scandelicious is London’s First Scandinavian Food truck, bringing a unique Nordic food experience to events across the South East!
If you have a sweet tooth then you won’t want to miss Delightfully Delicious. They create beautiful home-made brownies, tray bakes and more!
And finally, World Picnic will also be welcoming Herman Fung Chinese Cooking who will be creating authentic and delicious dishes for you to try.
Martin Chesse, Events Officer at The Parks Trust says; ‘We’re excited to be able to host World Picnic again this year as part of International Festival and to be able to give performers the opportunity to get back onto the stage. We’re also pleased to be able to support local food vendors who will be bringing food from around the world for the enjoyment of our visitors”.
World Picnic is a one-day free event taking place in Campbell Park in the heart of Milton Keynes. The event will start at 1pm and continue until 6pm. This event will use a book a bubble system allowing your family to attend safe in the knowledge that your safety is a priority. Simply select the size of your party when you book your tickets and you will be directed to your allocated picnic spot by The Parks Trust friendly volunteers.
