Local charity aims for record fundraising effort – Can you assist Keech Hospice Care in raising £500k?

On the weekend of 7-8 October, Keech Hospice Care will embark on their most ambitious fundraising endeavour in their 32-year legacy, REACH OUT FOR KEECH. Over just 48 hours, the charity, renowned for their specialised care for adults and children facing life-limiting conditions, seeks to gather £500,000. This is to ensure the continuity of their crucial services for patients throughout Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes.

The fundraiser will operate as an electrifying race against time on an online crowdfunding platform. Here, supporters can donate immediately and watch live as the event progresses towards its monumental £500,000 target. The clock will be ticking!

Furthermore, since this fundraiser benefits from matched funding, every donation given will double in value, at no extra expense to the donor or the hospice. Your generous donations will transform the lives of patients and their families during the most challenging times.

Keech Hospice Care’s CEO, Liz Searle, said: “Our goal is undeniably audacious, but our resolve to raise these crucial funds remains unwavering. Annually, we provide care to over 2,500 patients with life-limiting conditions. The demand for our services is on the rise, and we must adapt to meet it.

“While our services remain free to those who need them, the financial challenge to deliver this care is constant. It demands £17,000 a day – a staggering £6 million annually – to keep our operations afloat, and the government covers merely 30% of these costs.”

An Appeal for Local Champions
To ensure the success of REACH OUT FOR KEECH, the hospice is urgently rallying for ‘Keech champions’ to amplify the message of this campaign.

Liz Searle said, “It’s not mandatory for fundraisers to donate themselves. Instead, we’re on the lookout for individuals who resonate deeply with our mission and can take the initiative to share the fundraiser with their connections. This could be through straightforward acts such as texting, emails or social media posts – no need to leave your settee! However, discussing the campaign in person is also invaluable.

“A champion could be someone who has directly benefitted from our care or might know of someone who has. Or, they might merely wish to make a significant difference within their local community, ensuring that no one faces the end of life in solitude.”
