The Webber is A-Buzz!

Local Independent School The Webber, has been a hive of activity this year as they settle in resident bees and launch an Eco Bee Club to help inspire active learning and improve the local economy.

The Webber Independent School neighbours the green Linford Woods, a local woodland area of Milton Keynes just outside the heart of the City. The school ranges from 6 months to 16 years offering a real world curriculum and outstanding individualised learning experience that drives personal development and growth.

Working alongside local business Home Farm MK, Headmistress Hilary Marsden and Mr Adrian Dumbleton introduced a bee hive on the school grounds alongside the Eco Garden where nursey to Year 11 students grow and tend to their own fruit and vegetables for the school kitchen and use the space for learning in Science, Art, Geography and Wellbeing lessons.

“By incorporating beehives for natural pollination and wildflower areas to increase biodiversity, we benefit from encouraging local pollinators and letting nature do what it does best and we were thrilled to be able to support local school children the experience.” Said Adrian.

Their degree qualified, teachers and dedicated support staff are an important part of The Webber; offering subject-specialist teaching that continually develops interesting and innovative ways for the students to learn. Parents can expect their child to have access to a wide range of facilities, resources, support, and additional activities – which now includes The Webber Bee Hive and Eco Garden.

Life at The Webber is never dull and there is always something to ignite passions and uncover hidden talents. The Beehives and Bee Club aims to help children overcome fears, learn responsibilities and understand the value of these key pollinators. Together the wonderful Webber Bee Club children and the Bees create 100% Blossom Honey for parents and guests of the school.

The honey production has also offered a fantastic entrepreneurial opportunity for the Bee Club students and young Entrepreneurial Clubs as they discover the value of production and marketing, potting hundreds of 70g honey jars in through early spring to autumn.

Mrs Marsden told us “Here at Webber, we aim to instil a lifelong curiosity and love of learning within each and every one of our students. The best way to discover what’s on offer is to experience the ‘buzz’ of our super learning environment for yourself. I would be delighted to welcome perspective parents for a personal tour, where they will have the opportunity to meet with me, tour our exciting learning environment, and see our committed teachers and our engaged and wonderful students and even the Webber bees in action.”
