Willen Hospice teams up with MK Baking Blogger, Alix Carey, for Mother’s Day cupcake class
Posted 5th March 2021Willen Hospice are inviting local people to celebrate Mother’s Day this year by learning how to bake and decorate stunning cupcakes, with MK based baking blogger and author, Alix Carey from My Kitchen Drawer.
Alix will be teaching the exclusive virtual class, which takes place on Friday 12 March, 4 – 6pm, to help raise funds for the Hospice at time when many of their usual fundraising activities have been postponed or cancelled.
Taught live over Zoom, participants will bake alongside Alix, who will show how she makes the perfect cupcake, as well as demonstrating how to make icing flowers to decorate them.
Alix, who has published three bestselling baking cookbooks, said: “I am really excited to teach this class. I’ll be sharing my top baking tips and advice, and giving people the confidence to show them that they can make show stopping cakes in their own kitchens.
“Willen Hospice is a charity very close to my heart, so I am delighted to be able to donate my time and skills to help raise some money, and boost people’s wellbeing through baking.”
Tracey Jago, Willen Hospice Events Manager “This will be a really fun afternoon for families to do together, or gift the cupcakes as a doorstep delivery to their own Mum or loved one on Mother’s Day, if they live locally. We hope it will be a wholesome evening that will lift people’s spirits during lockdown and help them to gain new skills in the kitchen.”
The baking lesson is the second in a series of four cooking classes. The next will be an Easter Sunday Lunch with a twist, taught by Aaron from Chef Hat Home on Friday 2 April, followed by a Summer Picnic Special, by Ashley from Hilltop Catering on Friday 28 May.
It’s just £12 per class, and as all of the chefs and bakers are kindly donating their time and skills, 100% of the money raised goes to Willen Hospice to help support the charity through this crisis.
