Willen on Ice Schools Competition Winner Unveils Exclusive T-Shirt Design
Posted 2nd January 2025On Monday 9 December, creativity and festive cheer took centre stage as Aggie Mok, the winner of the Willen On Ice Schools Competition, proudly unveiled her winning T-shirt design to Wilbur, the beloved mascot of Willen Lake.
The competition, launched earlier this year, encouraged local students to design a festive new T-shirt for Wilbur, showcasing the magic of the holiday season. With hundreds of entries received, each filled with imaginative flair and seasonal sparkle, the judges faced a tough task narrowing it down to just one winner.
Aggie’s bold and colourful design stood out from the rest and was brought to life as a custom T-shirt for Wilbur, who received it in person during a heartwarming ceremony at the ice rink. Speaking about her win, Aggie shared: “I felt shocked and proud when they announced me as the winner! Seeing my design on a T-shirt is so exciting.”
To celebrate her achievement, Aggie and her entire class were awarded a free ice-skating session at Willen On Ice, ensuring a festive season they’ll never forget.
Carrie Matthews, Headteacher at Willen Primary School, expressed her pride in Aggie’s accomplishment: “What an incredible honour for one of our students to win this competition! The whole school is thrilled, and the children can’t wait to visit Willen On Ice and kick off the holiday season in style. Thank you to Willen On Ice for giving our students such an amazing opportunity!”
Tom Fogg, Senior Operations Manager at Willen Lake, commented on the success of the competition: “We were blown away by the creativity of local students and the response to this year’s competition. It’s wonderful to see Aggie’s design come to life and to celebrate her achievement with her classmates on the rink. At Willen On Ice, we’re all about creating magical moments for the community, and this competition has been a fantastic part of that.”
Willen On Ice, which features an impressive 800sqm real ice-skating rink, sparkling lights, funfair rides and festive street food, is open now through January 5, 2025. This year’s rink, double the size of last year’s, promises even more fun for skaters of all ages.
