Residents across Milton Keynes have a special opportunity to make an even bigger difference this week, as every donation to Willen Hospice made through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be doubled.
From now until midday on Tuesday 9 December, any contribution made via the Big Give website will be matched at no extra cost. It means a £10 donation becomes £20, £25 becomes £50 — helping Willen Hospice reach its target of £65,000 to fund vital specialist care for people living with life-limiting illnesses.
Willen Hospice needs to raise £9.6 million every year to continue offering its compassionate palliative and end-of-life care to local families. The support they provide goes far beyond medical care — it gives families comfort, dignity and precious time together.
Michelle, who stayed in the hospice’s In-Patient Unit last Christmas, received expert care and the chance to spend meaningful, peaceful moments with her loved ones. Her mum, Amanda, said the support meant everything during such a difficult time. “Because of Willen Hospice, Michelle had a peaceful death. She was pain-free. The Hospice gave Michelle and our family quality time to tie up loose ends and to say goodbye,” she said. “We met wonderful staff and volunteers there. I can’t thank them enough for what they did for us.”
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is made possible thanks to generous pledgers and charitable foundations who match every donation until the funding pot runs out. Willen Hospice has also thanked everyone who has already contributed to its Christmas appeal.
