A silver anniversary deserves a celebration – and this year, Midsummer Place is doing it in style. The Milton Keynes shopping destination is marking its 25th birthday on Saturday 27 September with a community party packed with celebrations, surprises, and plenty of nostalgia.

But here’s the twist. Alongside the fun, the team is on a mission to solve a 25-year-old mystery. Back when Midsummer Place was first built, a time capsule was buried to capture the spirit of the late ‘90s. Now, a quarter of a century later, they’re asking for your help to unlock its secrets.

Do you remember the time capsule? Were you there on the day it was buried? Do you recall what was tucked inside – or maybe even recognise someone in the photo from the event? The centre wants to hear from anyone with memories or stories to share.

As Marketing Manager Kirsty McGiff explains: “Reaching 25 years is a truly special moment for Midsummer Place and we want to celebrate it with the people who have been part of our journey from the very beginning. The story of the time capsule is an exciting mystery we’d love to solve together. If you were there, or if you know someone who might have been, please get in touch and share your memories – you could help us uncover a unique part of our history.”

Burying the Time Capsule

The big anniversary party promises to be more than just cake and balloons. It’s a chance for the Milton Keynes community to come together, look back on shared memories, and look forward to the next 25 years of Midsummer Place.
