Celebrating a decade of the Milton Keynes Rose: Call for nominations for new pillar dedications

Posted 7th August 2024

The Milton Keynes Rose is celebrating its tenth year since opening and to mark this milestone, nominations are now being sought for a new Pillar dedication.

Historically, a Pillar Panel has met every two years to review community suggestions, expanding and enhancing the memories and celebrations honoured at the Rose.

Nominations can be submitted online at miltonkeynesrose.org.uk until Monday, 16th September 2024. The next engraving will take place in 2025, with another planned for 2030. Community members are encouraged to nominate significant dates in the lives of people or organisations linked to Milton Keynes, past or present. Please send reasons for the nomination to: miltonkeynesrose@gmail.com.

This tenth Pillar is part of a year-long celebration of the Milton Keynes Rose’s opening. In addition to seeking new nominations, the organisers are gathering memories and memorabilia to create a comprehensive archive. These efforts aim to preserve and highlight the community’s history and shared experiences.

As part of the celebrations, a film screening about the Milton Keynes Rose will be featured. Additionally, there will be a pop-up exhibition at MK Gallery. These events will take place during Heritage Open Days on Friday, 13th September 2024. Both the film and the exhibition will provide an in-depth look at the story and significance of the Milton Keynes Rose.
