The arrival of November signals the start of something special in North Buckinghamshire – the opening of Stoke Goldington Christmas Trees. For many local families, a trip to the Letts’ farm marks the true beginning of the festive season.
Run by Chris and Jenny Letts, the farm offers an authentic countryside experience where visitors can pick their own Christmas tree straight from the field, and have it freshly cut while they wait. There’s no better way to make the season feel magical. It’s festive, it’s traditional, and above all, it’s an experience filled with laughter and joy.
Each year, hundreds of families return to walk the rows of evergreens, children dashing between trees as parents seek out “the one”. And with trees of every shape and size – from neat, bushy firs to grand, full-bodied spruces – there’s something for every home and every Christmas vision.
Chris and Jenny’s philosophy is simple: helping you make memories and keep traditions alive. “We love seeing families come back year after year,” says Jenny. “We’ve watched little ones grow up through the seasons, still coming back to find their tree as adults. That’s what it’s all about.”
Because your tree is cut fresh from the field, it can be taken straight indoors and placed in a water-holding stand. There’s no waiting period needed – the freshness means it’s ready to decorate immediately, filling your home with that unmistakable pine scent.
If you plan to wait a few days before putting it up, the Letts recommend keeping it outside in a bucket of water, sheltered from wind and sun. Then, when you’re ready, simply trim 1cm off the base to help the trunk take up water and keep it looking lush.
For the environmentally conscious, Chris and Jenny also remind visitors to dispose of trees responsibly after the festive season. “Most local councils run chipping or recycling schemes,” Chris notes. “It’s a great way to make sure the trees are returned to the earth and continue to give back.”
