Christmas tree supplier to the stars offers Black Fir-day deals ahead of busiest sales weekend

Posted 22nd November 2019

As its busiest weekend for Christmas tree sales approaches, festive fir suppliers Pines and Needles is offering big online discounts on its popular pines this Black Friday.

The company, which has been kitting out Christmas for more than 20 years and are Harry and Meghan’s go-to tree supplier, is offering a 15% discount on its website on November 29.

This is a tree-mendous opportunity for people to decorate their homes with Christmas class, taking real trees from the company’s two plantations in Scotland which are left to mature for 10 years.

Pines and Needles was founded by brothers Sam and Josh Lyle as teenagers and the company now sells a whopping 60,000 Christmas trees a year.

“We want as many people to get the Pines and Needles experience this Christmas,” said Sam.

“The last weekend in November has become our busiest selling weekend with more and more people wanting to deck out their houses for the whole of December.

“On Black Friday we will be offering a special discount to customers which is a great opportunity to get in ahead of the bust Saturday and Sunday rush.”

With the rush to buy trees early it means that people have to consider looking after their trees to make sure they look luscious and green throughout the festive season.

Christmas tree care

Pines & Needles has offered its expert advice on keeping your firs in fine fettle…

Routine

If you leave your tree outside in the frost for two days then place it next to the fire, it won’t like it. Trees like most people are creatures of habit and prefer steady conditions.

Heat

If you want your tree to last (and more people have bought in November than ever) position your Christmas tree away from any heat sources such as radiators and fireplaces.

Water

Your tree is thirsty. Place your tree in plain water – not soil or sand which would block the pores in the bark. This is best achieved by using a specially designed Christmas tree stand. Many precious hours can be wasted trying to make a Christmas Tree stand up straight in an ordinary bucket using just bricks or stones!

More water!

Your Christmas tree may drink almost as much as you do this Christmas! A tree can drink up to 2-3 pints (1-2 litres) of water per day, depending on its size and your central heating settings.

This step is very important as once the water level drops below the tree’s trunk, sap will re-seal the bark within a few hours, preventing the tree from drinking any further water.
