Dancers delight shoppers at Midsummer Place in aid of the Willen Hospice Summer of Moo
Posted 4th June 2022Shoppers in Midsummer Place were entertained by a group of 20 dancers from the Myra Tiffin Performing Arts School (MTPAS) last month. They impressed the crowds with a ‘Moo Dance’, specially choreographed to promote the charity’s Summer of Moo fundraising activities: The Midday Moo (25th June), Midnight Moo (15th July) and Mini Moo (7th August)
The dancers from the Stony Stratford based school were joined by Willen Hospice’s much-loved mascot, Flo the Cow, for the fun performance which even inspired a few shoppers to join in and ‘Show their Mooves’ this summer in support of the local charity.
The flash mob was choreographed by MTPAS teacher, Rosina Andrews: “Willen Hospice are an incredible charity who do such amazing work. They cared for my Dad a few years ago and the entire team of doctors and nurses worked so hard to make such a difficult time the best it can be. I’m thrilled to be able to support their Summer of Moo fundraising so that they can continue to help more families in Milton Keynes.”
Rachael Withe, Willen Hospice Marketing Manager, said “Dancing makes people smile and feel good, and the Moo Dance flash mob certainly achieved that! Our Summer of Moo fundraising events are a really fun way to get together with friends, family and colleagues and fundraise for your local Hospice. We are very grateful to all the wonderful dancers at MTPAS who have helped to demonstrate just how much fun fundraising can be!”
Willen Hospice are inviting people to Show their Mooves for Willen Hospice by signing up to a Summer of Moo event, learning the dance and sharing their ‘Mooves’ on social media. You can join Flo the mascot in this tutorial video to learn the dance and see who’s been dancing by following the charity’s Facebook and Instagram pages and searching #ShowUsYourMooves.
The Summer of Moo encompasses the charity’s popular Midday Moo, Midnight Moo and Mini Moo events, all taking place across the summer months. The Midday Moo is the first event, happening on Saturday 25th June, which is a 5 or 10 mile walk in the day. This is followed by a night time walk, the Midnight Moo, on Friday 15th July, and a family favourite, the Mini Moo, is on Sunday 7th August, which invites children aged 3 – 11 to scoot, run or walk around Willen Lake North. The Moo Dance is a fun way for local people to join the “Moovement” and show their support for their local Hospice, which helps so many MK families.
Bookings are open for the three Summer of Moo events. Visit www.willen-hospice.org.uk/moo to sign up. Both the Midday and Midnight Moo are £20, (discount for group bookings) which includes a Moo t-shirt and medal, and the Mini Moo is £10, which includes a medal and cap.
