Volunteering vacancies at local world-class gallery
Posted 10th October 2022MK Gallery is hosting an open evening on Tuesday 25 October, between 5-7pm, and invites people from local communities to come and see what volunteering opportunities are available at the Gallery.
Anyone who is interested in feeling valued, involving themselves in the Gallery, in front and behind the scenes, is welcome to pop in.
Potential newcomers will be able to join an afterhours, volunteer-led tour of the galleries and building while learning about the role of a gallery assistant. They can visit the Sky Room, which houses the Gallery’s in-house cinema, so that those who are interested in film can see how volunteers facilitate the screenings – and get to watch them.
The open evening will be held in the Gallery café. It’s a friendly place where existing volunteers often enjoy a catch-up with each other before or after their sessions. Potential new recruits can meet and chat with current volunteers and Gallery staff, ask questions and have a cup of tea (or coffee).
Annette Parmar, Volunteer Manager, is the team’s biggest champion and supporter: ‘Our volunteers are an incredible group of diverse and dedicated people sharing their time, energy and expertise to help ensure our visitors have a wonderful experience at the Gallery.
We have room for more people to join the team and I’m looking forward to meeting and greeting new faces at our open evening. We welcome everyone from 18 years onwards. There’s so much flexibility – you can volunteer regularly; once a week; or be flexible, fitting in a session around your schedule.
‘You may be a student, retired, wanting to try something different, add to your CV, build new skills, or ready to meet new people. Whatever your reason for volunteering, you will be very much part of who we are and what we do at this world-class gallery.’
Currently, the Gallery has 200 volunteers and Annette plans to recruit 30 more before ringing in 2023. For more information go to www.mkgallery.org/volunteering or contact Annette aparmar@mkgallery.org
