Less than two weeks to go until Willen Hospice Moo Weekender, sponsored by Specsavers MK

Posted 30th July 2021

Willen Hospice is counting down the days until their 80s themed Moo Weekender event on 6 and 7 August. The event combines the charity’s popular Midnight and Midday Moos, and challenges fundraisers to walk or run 10 miles, or a shorter five-mile Half Moo, to support the vital care they provide for local people.

With less than two weeks to go, the Moo Weekender organisers have been busy preparing packs to send out to everyone who has signed up to the event so far. The packs include a fundraising guide, sponsorship forms, in-memory bibs, and the much-anticipated annual ‘Moo’ t-shirt, which has a retro 80s theme this year.

Steve Moore, Director at headline sponsors Specsavers MK, added: “We are so pleased to be providing the iconic Moo t-shirts for the Moo Weekender. Along with the vibrant t-shirt, we are encouraging participants to dress up as much as they want, with big hair, bright colours, and bold make up or face paint. It’s all good fun, for a great cause.

“It’s wonderful to see the charity holding a ‘real-life’ Moo this year, even if things are still looking a bit different. The Moo is always an important event for the Hospice, which is why we’ve proudly been the headline sponsors for five years running, but as the pandemic continues, they need their community more than ever. Willen Hospice is close to many people’s hearts in Milton Keynes, so I urge everyone to get moo-ving and have fun by taking part in the Midnight Moo on 6 August, or the Midday Moo on the 7 August – or both, or even do it virtually.”

Tracey Jago, Events Manager, said: “We are so excited for our Moo Weekender. Our Midnight Moo is one of our most popular events, and our more recent Midday Moo was a fantastic event when we held it for the first time in 2019. As it’s our 40th anniversary, we wanted to combine the two this year to have a real celebration, especially after we’ve all spent so much time indoors over the past 16 months.

”It’s going to be a fantastic night and day. We’ll be playing lots of 80s music, giving out goodie bags, our mascot Florence the Cow will be there, and of course, everyone taking part gets an exclusive Moo Weekender medal. We can’t thank Specsavers enough for supporting us once again by being our headline sponsors, as well as all of the other local organisations who are helping to make the event possible.”

Entry to either the Midnight Moo or Midday Moo is £20, or £30 to do both (includes exclusive t-shirt and finisher’s medal).
