Milton Keynes’ remarkable Cathedral of Trees will once again ring with festive cheer on Sunday 14 December as The Parks Trust brings back its much-loved afternoon of carols. Set beneath the living “nave” and “spires”, Carols at the Cathedral promises music, storytelling, seasonal treats and an opportunity to support local good causes.
From 2pm, families can enjoy performances by MK Brass Band, DD Powers Trio, Music Makers of Milton Keynes and Red Phoenix Storytelling – all adding to the unmistakable magic of this open-air setting.
Visitors can indulge in pastries and cakes freshly baked by Camphill MK Communities, alongside warming drinks served by Willen Hospice, with proceeds helping to support their work locally.
As dusk settles, lanterns and torches will glow for a community sing-along to favourites from O Come All Ye Faithful and Jingle Bells to Deck the Halls. The event is free to attend and all are welcome. To ensure greater accessibility, a British Sign Language interpreter will be present during the carols.
Julie Dawes, Events and Community Engagement Manager at The Parks Trust, says “It’s one of my absolute favourite events in MK’s parks. There’s always such a great festive feeling, and I love seeing our communities come together for open-air carolling in such a special (and unique) place. We welcome everyone to come along and share the joy!”.
In the spirit of giving, MK Food Bank will also be on site with a donation point for tinned and dry goods, which will be distributed across the community throughout the winter. Guests are encouraged to bring suitable items, with guidance available on the Parks Trust website.
Those wishing to attend only the carols should note that singing begins at 4:15pm. The full schedule and further details can be found at: theparkstrust.com/carols.
