University of Buckingham and Lillingstone Trust announce new £13,000 scholarship

The Lillingstone Trust and the University of Buckingham have joined together to create a £13,000 scholarship specifically for local students within North Buckinghamshire, South Northamptonshire, or Milton Keynes, who could otherwise not afford a university education, and for whom a place at the University of Buckingham will unlock life-changing opportunities.

The scholarship will go towards tuition fees for those wishing to study a two-year undergraduate degree in either computing or psychology, starting at the University in September 2020.

Vice-Chancellor, Anthony Seldon comments; ‘We are delighted to be able to offer this new scholarship in partnership with the Lillingstone Trust. Psychology and computing are growing areas of interest for young people from all backgrounds and are infinitely important for improving our everyday lives and the economy. We hope this will help more students get the education they desire in order to innovate and progress in these fields.’

Chair of Trustees at the Lillingstone Trust, John Lane explains, ‘I’ve been to many events at the University of Buckingham and have been impressed by the work they do for their students, and the efforts of Anthony Seldon. Our aim is to inspire local students and to increase the opportunities they have to succeed, particularly in the study of science subjects, and we have concentrated the Trust’s resources on students from low income backgrounds who may otherwise be deterred from entering higher education.’
