Dunstable’s GJ Smith Roofing Crowned South Regional Roofer of the Year

A Dunstable roofing firm has been recognised among the best in the business after winning South Regional Roofer of the Year at the 2025 Checkatrade Awards.

GJ Smith Roofing, which serves Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, will now go forward to represent the South region at the national final at Wembley Stadium on 19 November.

The family-run company, founded more than 30 years ago by Gary Smith, is known for handling everything from small repairs to full roof installations, with guaranteed and insurance-backed work across domestic and commercial projects.

Gary Smith said this recognition reflects the dedication of the whole team and the loyalty of their customers, adding that winning the regional title is a proud moment and the business is excited to compete at Wembley.

The Checkatrade judges praised GJ Smith Roofing for its reliability and strong recommendations from clients. The awards also raise vital funds for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, which provides financial, physical and emotional wellbeing support to those working in construction and their families.

Collecting the award, Natalie Smith said being recognised at this level was very special and that the team is proud to put Dunstable and the wider region on the map for excellence in their trade.
