Local couple request donations to MK Cat Rescue in lieu of wedding gifts

Jo and Steve Mitchell got married last November and decided to ask for an unsual wedding gift: donations to their favourite local charity MK Cat Rescue.

“We really love cats and have seven of our own, the last one with the help of MK Cat Rescue,” said Jo, “So instead of buying us any gifts (we didn’t need anything!) we decided to ask our family and friends if they would like to donate to this brilliant charity who do an amazing job rescuing and re-homing cats in MK, with no central funding.”

“After dealing with them a few times and to rescue our latest kitten, Chester, we knew that they always need funds,” continued Jo. “They have many cats and kittens who need help.”

“We set an initial target of £500,” Steve tells us. “But that was quickly surpassed and in the end we raised a whopping £1020! We are very grateful to our guests for their generosity.”

MK Cat Rescue are a local charity, helping Milton Keynes’ cats and kittens, including ferals, and pregnant and nursing queens.

“We are incredibly grateful to Jo and Steve for this wonderful, selfless contribution,” said Claire Henesy, MK Cat Rescue’s Secretary and Welfare Officer. “We rely on the public for donations and support, and every penny will help the cats in our care.”
