Milton Keynes Can Play a Leading Role in a Global Britain
Posted 1st June 2017MK’s Conservative Parliamentary Candidates believe the City could play a leading role for Britain as it seeks to form new trade relationships around the world.
Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart visited Tech Mahindra an Indian multinational provider of information technology who have their UK headquarters based in Central Milton Keynes.
On the visit the candidates discussed why Milton Keynes has become a hub for national and international businesses. Since 2010 more than 3,000 new businesses have started up in MK and the area is consistently top of the league tables for economic growth and employment.
The Conservative Candidate for Milton Keynes North Mark Lancaster said: “Today we visited a serious global business turning over billions every year which has not only decided to enter the UK market but also to locate its headquarters here in Milton Keynes. It demonstrates just how attractive MK has become to live and work.
“But we need to secure our successes. Iain and I have and will always fight for Milton Keynes’ best interests.”
The Conservative Candidate for Milton Keynes South Iain Stewart added: “Having worked in the Department for International Trade I know just how well other Countries view Milton Keynes. Businesses are choosing to set up or move here every week which is creating more jobs for hard working families across Milton Keynes.
“I strongly believe more is to come and Milton Keynes really can play a leading role for Britain post Brexit. I hope we will have two experienced voices in Parliament who will bang the drum as loud as possible for the City.”
Vice President of Tech Mahindra Upendra Dharmadhikary commented: “We were delighted to have Mark and Iain visit us to find out more about the investments we are making in Milton Keynes and across the UK.”
Among their projects in MK Tech Mahindra have set up a new initiative supported by Lividia, The Cube and MK Council, that looks at promoting local technology entrepreneurs. InnovateMK is designed to encourage and support local entrepreneurs and start-ups providing access to crucial resources. These include a vibrant co-working centre, access to key entrepreneurial events, mentoring and networking events within the investment community along with channels to market.
