This iconic festive fundraiser sees hundreds of people dressed as Father Christmas flock to Willen Lake to walk, jog or sprint the 1.2 mile Dash around the north lake. On a beautifully sunny and bright October morning dignitaries and students gathered in Thornton College's stunning grounds to plant an Oak tree in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy Platinum Jubilee Project. Around 36,000 runners take part every year in the London Marathon every year. Willen Hospice is inviting cycling enthusiasts to take part in their popular Cycle Sportive on Sunday 4th September from Cranfield University. This year, organisers are excited to reveal that there are three new routes to choose from; 40 miles, 65 miles, and following on from the last year’s success, a 100 miler. In 2021 Willen Hospice celebrated its 40th anniversary, and as the only adult care hospice covering Milton Keynes, the Hospice, its staff and volunteers are a beacon of light during immensely difficult times. Annually, the Hospice cares for an average of 300 people at its centre, and around 700 more are supported in their own homes.
